Since opening the Barn doors a couple of months ago, we've seen a multitude of lovely visitors here at Your Pottery Barn (Hartley, Kent). We are so grateful to have this opportunity to be a channel through which others can be blessed through music, content & conversation & excited to see so many guests get stuck in with painting quality pottery pieces here at the barn! We thought it's about time to share lots of beautiful creations, ideas & experiences with you all. We will aim to complete a ‘Monthly/termly Roundup’ blog just like this one, sharing some of the events and pottery painted in the studio. You never know, you may spot one of your painted items on here soon.
A Winter Woodland Scene Your Pottery Barn proudly hosted the amazing Forest Pack cubs for a private pottery painting workshop. The cubs were given step by step instructions and did such an amazing job painting their master pieces that are now completely food safe and ready to put their favourite meal on! Don’t they look fantastic? The Woodland template design was supplied to Your Pottery Barn by Hobby Ceramicraft (one of our pottery suppliers), and was a huge hit! Pottery painting is such a wonderful experience to complete as a group activity and we hope to see many more groups like this!
Toddler Activity - Pick & Paint
At 18 Months old, Max practiced his fine motor skills with multiple brush & sponge techniques to decorate a 12” plate on his first Pottery Painting experience. Using 4 different shades of green & blue, he happily experimented and soon covered the plate (and his nose) well. Once finished, Max’s Mummy was shown how to use one of our silk screen transfers and they created a special Christmas Eve plate for Santa’s treats. Pottery Painting with children is such a fun indoor activity here at Your Pottery Barn. We have aprons, high chairs and all our surfaces wipe clean. We also have a play house, slide & book corner for when the little ones have finished creating works of art and still have some energy to burn. As parents ourselves, we know how hard it is to find family friendly activities which is why we made Your Pottery Barn a space for all to enjoy. If you are looking for things to do in Kent, be sure to pay us a visit.
Wreath Making Workshops
We had such a wonderful time making natural wreaths for this festive period - thank you to all who came - what a creative bunch of ladies who even taught Your Pottery barn a thing or two about making wreaths!
Pick & Paint sessions & Pizza nights!
Where do we begin... We have had the most beautiful human beings enter the barn - some with funny stories, some with devastating, deep heart ache needing a space to come and find themselves again and some very focussed and determined to get their pieces done in the time given - but we are so grateful to say that everyone who walked in - walked out with a smile! From Dementia parents to busy body toddlers - Thank you so much for supporting Your Pottery Barn and we hope to see many more happy painters come through the doors! Due to the success of the first pizza evening we're planning to make it a monthly event. Don't tell my hubby BUT... the pizza chef is not only an incredible person who makes great pizzas - he is absolute eye candy!
Ukulele Sessions - A Massive BIG thank you to Barry who runs our ukulele sessions on Wednesday mornings! The atmosphere is simply amazing and who would have thought that a small string instrument could make such a big difference - can't wait to continue on the 10th of Jan 2024!
Throwing Experience - This 4 hour throwing experience (including lunch!) is such a great gift to a loved one. We've had the privilege of hosting 2 experience days since opening and so blessed to have had the loveliest groups anyone can ask for! Approx three weeks after throwing their pots, most of them came back to glaze the pots and the results were Amazing! One person was so inspired and went on to sign himself up to a longer Adult Education course and we wish him all the success in the world - you did so well!! Well done throwers!
Birthday Parties - Your Pottery Barn has hosted parties for painters/makers between the ages of 5 and 40 and it's been so delightful seeing individuals choosing pottery painting as a "get together" option! Wish we had asked everyone for permission to post photos but here are some pictures of the 1st Party in the barn!
Charity Year end Functions & Family gatherings has been another blessing to host here at Your Pottery Barn. As the children gets older it gets harder to fit all the friends/family members in one house so some has resorted to meet up for lunch and pottery painting at the barn! Healing in His wings, a Christian charity organisation, had their year end function at the barn and the day was filled with ladies opening up about their past and encouraging & empowering others with their testimonies giving them hope for the future - what an event!
